, it’s the coffee of choice for most people, irrespective of the weather or season. This is why it’s not surprising that frozen coffee makers are becoming highly popular. A coffee technology and manufacturing company based in Massachusetts, Cometeer, is making news headlines after it bagged a Series B funding round of around $35 million. This saw its total raised capital increase to around $100 million.

This company has always been one of the top specialty-coffee-segment rivals to famous single-use and single-serve alternatives like Nespresso pods and K-Cups, but this latest funding further solidifies its position. Cometeer was founded in 2012 by Douglas Hoon, now CTO, and Roberts, a former computer scientist, who partnered with various coffee experts and scientists to make the frozen coffee capsules. This invention was, however, launched later in 2019 at the Specialty Coffee Expo Trusted Source About — Specialty Coffee Expo The Specialty Coffee Expo was designed to be the coffee professional’s one stop shop for everything they need to succeed in the coffee industry. coffeeexpo.org . It went on to win the “Best New Product” award.

Cometeer Trusted Source Cometeer - Earth’s First Hyper Fresh Coffee A new day has arrived on earth for coffee. Cometeer makes incredibly delicious coffee that gets sent straight to your freezer door in a tiny little recyclable capsule. Welcome to the future of coffee. cometeer.com is mainly geared towards manufacturing, cold-shipment, and selling single-serve frozen specialty coffee capsules that have been engineered to offer the highest level of convenience and unmatched quality. The coffee capsules are made from recyclable aluminum and contain exceptional coffee extract made from a hot brew, which is then frozen quickly and sealed. Preparing a drink from Cometeer’s frozen capsule maker is pretty easy, and users only have to put it in a mug and add hot water. Some people take the brew hot, others consume it cold, but there are some that prefer to use it as the foundation of espresso-style drinks.

The company highlighted that most of its funding had been received from various parties related to the coffee industry, including the lead investors in Blue Bottle, the former President of Nespresso, and the founder of Keurig Green Mountain, as well as various individuals and investment firms.

According to Cometeer, the latest $35 million investment will be channeled towards increasing their production capabilities in their manufacturing facility in Gloucester, which was previously a frozen seafood plant with a 15,000-gallon liquid nitrogen tank & a 30,000-square-foot freezer, and their headquarters.

Cometeer uses beans from coffee roasters known for their quality to make branded products, and they recently launched the Go Get Em Tiger, which is based in Los Angeles and Red Bay Coffee. Plans to launch Klatch Coffee next week in Southern California are underway, while it’s expected that they’ll also launch Onyx Coffee Lab in Arkansas very soon.

According to Matt Roberts, Cometeer’s CEO and Co-Founder, the company is focused on fostering and nurturing relationships with various roasting partners known for their unique roasting styles, sourcing techniques, and backgrounds. In addition to this, they’re also championing the commoditization of the coffee sector. He also highlighted that Cometeer’s retail waitlist and pilot program would be ending with the recent uptick in capacity. This, however, means that all sales done through the company’s official website will be fully open to the public, as well as a new corporate gifting program. Roberts also stated that even though Cometeer was focusing on direct customer relationships, they were also partnering with retail cafes, including the George Howell’s cafe Trusted Source George Howell Coffee George Howell Coffee’s mission is to seek out the best coffees on Earth.
