According to CNN Trusted Source Drinking more coffee can lead to a longer life, new studies say | CNN A higher consumption of coffee is linked to a longer life, two new studies say, with the benefits applicable across multiple races. www.cnn.com , coffee has been linked with several physical health benefits, including a longer life. This is why it’s no surprise that coffee demand and consumption are increasing daily.

Coffee and sunshine are undoubtedly 2 of Italy’s charming aspects, and 2 engineers in the country’s capital have combined them to form an environmentally friendly and innovative way of roasting coffee beans. This method eliminates the need for gas or electricity during the roasting process.

Daniele Tummei and Antonio Durbe have been perfecting their roasting art for about two years. Their system can roast up to 110 pounds of coffee beans every hour and requires a lot of sunlight and a sizable piece of land ( half a tennis court). The two engineers primarily use the sun’s energy to run their plant by concentrating the sun rays using a set of mirrors installed on the coffee roaster.

This system also contains some electrical parts, but they’re solar-powered.

For maximum efficiency, the mirrors contain sensors that are driven by a computer to follow the location of the sun during the day. They then direct the sunlight onto a rotating steel basket that’s full of coffee beans. Depending on how bright the sun is, this basket can reach 240-250 C, which is enough to roast the beans in about 20 minutes.

This coffee roasting process is not only innovative but also economical and environmentally friendly. Durbe and Tummei also highlight that it’s better than other coffee roasting methods because it preserves the aroma of the coffee beans and gives them a rich flavor. This is because the sun rays only heat the coffee and penetrate the grains uniformly while leaving the exterior intact. There’s, however, a downside to this roasting method; it’s highly dependent on warm weather. On rainy or cloudy days, operations have to half for a while. The good news is that the plant is located in southern Italy, which according to BBC Trusted Source Italy may have registered Europe's hottest temperature on record Regional authorities reported the reading, which needs to be verified by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), near Syracuse on Wednesday. www.bbc.com , is often sunny, and it usually roasts around 66,000 pounds of coffee annually.

According to the engineers, their plant is currently located in a friend’s garden, and the coffee, known as Purosole, or pure sun, is available online.
