He reported this to the abbot at his local monastery (as you do) and the monks soon discovered that, by roasting and then boiling the bean, they could stay alert all night for prayer. And thus was born the coffee break, probably. www.bustle.com has been all the rage, especially in the summer heat. No matter what your preference is, though, I think we can all agree that there are few things more refreshing and decadent than a nice blended iced coffee.

Again, the versatility of blended iced coffee is tough to beat! It’s amazing with just a little cream and sugar, but it really shines when you add flavors. These could be in the form of syrups, herbs, or even spices, depending on your preferences. When it comes to blended iced coffee, the best part of all is how easy it is to make! Blended iced coffee recipe

Blended Iced Coffee - Simple and Refreshing Drink!

Few things in life can beat a nice glass of blended iced coffee. It’s almost hard to believe how easy it is to make, too! All you need are a few simple ingredients and a blender (or similar). Before jumping into the recipe, however, we should cover a few quick— but very important— parts of the process.

  1. The coffee you choose matters. The coffee you choose will affect the overall taste of your drink, so you should take that into consideration when making your selection. While it’s totally fine to use anything you have in the house (including instant!), you can really taste the difference when you use high-quality coffee. The coffee you choose will also depend on the type of coffee maker you own, so be sure to choose something compatible with your appliance. We use the Jura 15145, which we love because you can put whole coffee beans directly into the machine. If you prefer single-cup machines, this is our favorite coffee to use for blended iced coffee. Also, strong coffee works best for this recipe!
  2. For best results, don’t use piping hot coffee. Ideally, you’ll have time to make your coffee the night before and refrigerate it overnight. If you don’t want to wait, however, just pop your mug in the fridge for about 20 minutes to cool the coffee down. The reason for this is to keep the ice (used for blending) from melting and watering down your drink.

Ok, now that we’ve gotten those tips out of the way, it’s time to get blending! Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (you may not use all of this depending on how big your cup is for your blended iced coffee)
  • 1 1/4 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup milk or 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1-2 tablespoons of sugar, depending on your preference

OPTIONAL

  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Directions:

  1. Add the coffee, ice, milk (or cream), and 1 tablespoon of sugar to your blender.
  2. Blend the ingredients using the pulse setting until the mixture looks smooth like a milkshake.
  3. Taste, and add sugar or more milk/cream to your preference
  4. Once you’re satisfied, pour the mixture into a tall glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
  5. Add a colorful straw and enjoy!
